The winding of the ball is the transformation of a 2 dimensional printed image into a tactile thing in your hand. It comes from theater is a blank page, a collaboration between Ann Hamilton and The SITI Company. Printed on one side an image of a painting by James McNeill Whistler, A Symphony in Violet and Blue, and on the other, a page from Virginia Woolf’s To The Lighthouse. In the performance I sat at a table each night and wound word and image into one form. The songs are from a couple groups I sing with: Superdevoiche, the Bulgarian Women’s Choir at UCLA led by Tzvetanka Varimezov, and The Sacred Harp Beginner’s Club.

Many thanks to Emily Skeggs for encouraging my weird brain and taking it even further with her direction.
